This tour takes you into several villages of the most prominent ethnic groups in Northern Laos: the Khmu and Hmong. The Khmu are also called “Laos Theung” and settle at a medium altitude, the later, sometimes called “Laos Soung”, live in high regions along the mountain ridges. You will see two scenic waterfalls on day 3. Day 4 and 5 are spent kayaking and relaxing in the rural setting of the Lower Nam Ou River.

The starting point of the trek is 40 km north of Luang Prabang, in the Khmu-village of Ban Huay Lo off route 13. The trail passes through two Khmu & Hmong-villages, whilst continuously gaining height. The first Hmong-village visited is Ban Mok Chung, the second Pha Peung. You will learn more about Hmong-culture in the host village for the night, Ban Mok Chung. 
Approximately: 1-hour transfer/ 5 hours trekking.

Day 2: Laos Package Tours: Ban Mok Chung Adventure Trekking Tours to Ban Nasavang And Ban Huay Kok Villages – Homestay

Today, we trek further into the rugged and densely forested mountains west of the Nam Ou valley. A trail leads us through remote and beautiful bamboo forest and limestone scenery. Lunch is served in the Khmu village of Ban Nasavang. We spend the night at the village of Ban Houay Kok.
Approximately: 5 hours trekking.

Day 3: Luang Prabang Kayaking Tours: Ban Huay Kok Trekking Tours to Huaykha and Ban Pak Chaek Villages – Homestay

After breakfast, we continue our trek passing the Khmu hill tribe of Huay Kha village and to the waterfalls Tad Ngai and Tad Noi: an idyllic place for a relaxing. We make a lunch stop and time for bathing. The trek ends on the banks of the Nam Ou River in the late afternoon, at the Lao Leu village of Ban Pak Chaek the place for overnight.

Approximately: 5 hours trekking Note: For 3 days option, you can also do 2 days trekking and 1-day kayaking on the last day. But kayak rental is an additional charge (see below).

End of the three-day trip:
Return from Ratthahae to Luang Prabang.

Day 4: Laos Kayaking Tours: Ban Pak Chaek – Ban Huay Leuang – Ban Hadko – Kayaking Tours & Fishing experiences

After breakfast, some basic paddle instructions and practice prepare for the first day of kayaking on the Nam Ou River. People fishing The first stretch leads south of Ban Pak Chaek. Now the villagers move to another side of the Nam Ou River. We then paddle through five fun rapids (grade 1 to 2, suitable for beginners). Along the way, you will get experience with local people fishing and gold panning by the river banks. The afternoon is spent in calmer waters, as the villages become more numerous, a lot of vegetable gardens can be seen on the banks. We stay overnight at a village of Lao Leu.

Day 5: Laos Kayaking Tours: Ban Hadko – Pak Ou Cave – Ban Xang Hai – Luang Prabang – Nam Ou River Kayaking packages

After breakfast, kayak continues downstream Nam Ou River over passing the Eagle Rock and limestone facing to Pak Ou Cave (Buddha Cave). After lunch, we visit Buddha statues which were collected by the royal family. The kayak will end at the Lao sticky rice wine making village. We will be transferred back to Luang Prabang via Xang Khong, the waving and Sa paper making village. 
Approximately: 1-hour driving/ 5 hours kayaking.

Hat, sun-screen, torch, swimsuit and sarong for bathing, clothes/shoes to get wet, mosquito repellent, warm change of clothes for the evening
