U Bein Bridge is a crossing that spans the Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura in Myanmar. The 1.2-kilometre bridge was built around 1850 and is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world.
Sagaing is the capital of Sagaing Region in Myanmar. Located on the Ayeyarwady River, 20 km to the south-west of Mandalay on the opposite bank of the river, Sagaing with numerous Buddhist monasteries is an important religious and monastic center


Itinerary :

After having breakfast at hotel, we’ll jump on our motorbikes to bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River and from here, we’ll find out a short cut or dirt trail to ride along the bank of river to Nan Taw Kyun Village where chartered boat waiting – then load the motorbikes on the boat and cross the river to Mingun. The site of a brick pagoda is about 11 km (one hour each way) upriver from Mandalay, and home to the world’s largest intact bell.

Right here, we’ll visit the Mingun Bell, weighing 87 tons and being the world’s largest intact bronze bell, the beautiful Hsinbyume Paya (also known as Myatheintan Pagoda) and the unfinished Mingun Paya (built with the intention of being the world’s biggest pagoda).

After having lunch, we’ll keep riding our motorbikes to Amarapura to explore the famous Buddhist monastery of Mahagandayon, where more than a thousand monks live and study; before continuing to see the U Bein bridge (it is 200 year old and it is the longest teak-wood bridge in the world). The bridge was built in 1782 at the time when Amarapura was Royal capital. Then visit Bagaya Monastery, with a superb collection of Buddha statues.

Later on, we’ll relax ourselves by horse-cart to visit Nanmyint Watch Tower, the remains of the palace building name “the leaning tower of Ava” Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and Bargayar Monastery, this place is famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts. Continue to Sagaing Hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees for sunset.
