Spain funds 400,000 Euros to strengthen capacity of Vietnam’s tourism industry

Viet Nam and Spain on November 29 inked an ODA cast supporting the feat of Annam tourism usage strategy period 2011 – 2020, exteroception to 2030. The language ceremony was held at the psyche part of the Asian Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) with the attendance of leaders of MoCST, VNAT and Spanish Embassy in Viet Nam, the Land Authority for World Processing Cooperation (AECID).

Spain funds 400,000 Euros to strengthen capacity of Vietnam’s tourism industry

The 400,000-Euro ODA project, funded by the Spanish Government through AECID, will be implemented in the period 2011 – 2012 in provinces of Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Ha Giang… The project aims to highlight the role of tourism at both central and local levels; contribute to diversification of tourism products towards sustainability, preservation and upholding unique characteristics of Vietnamese culture and nature.

Positive outcomes have been seen in the tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Spain during the past years. In 2002, the two nations signed an agreement on tourism cooperation at governmental level, which formed legal base for further cooperative tourism activities.  The two sides also promoted the exchange of delegations at all levels; fostered collaboration in prioritised areas, facilitated bilateral cooperation of tourism businesses. Specifically, Spain assisted Viet Nam through development initiatives as Dissemination of Tourism Law, Developing marketing strategy of Viet Nam tourism, Tourism zoning of Cat Ba Islands, Management of tourism development at Viet Nam’s world heritage sites; Tourism zoning of Hue City…

Addressing at the signing ceremony, MoCST’s Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan thanked the Government of Spain for its positive support to Viet Nam tourism. He expressed his strong belief that the implementation of the project would contribute to sustainable and targeted development of Viet Nam tourism, diversification of tourism products…

According to Spanish Ambassador, Mr. Fernando Curcio Ruigómez, Spain is one of three leading tourist destinations of the world, receiving over 60 million international arrivals in 2010. Tourism is of significant role in the national economy, generating jobs and income for people and also boosting the development of other sectors. The Ambassador hoped the newly-inked project would help Viet Nam to approach international tourism standards, improve its competitiveness, and make tourism sustainable and responsible.
