Ba Be National Park was established in 1992 as Vietnam’s eighth national park. The scenery here is breathtaking, with towering Limestone Mountains peaking at 1554m, plunging valleys, dense evergreen forests, waterfalls, caves and, of course, the lakes themselves. There are 13 tribal villages in the Ba Be region, with most belonging to the Tay minority, who live in stilt homes, plus smaller numbers of Dzao and H’mong. A village homestay program is now well established, allowing travelers to experience life in a tribal village.

8:00 am we leave Hanoi for Ba Be National Park, the biggest natural lake in northern Vietnam. Ba Be Lake is a famous Nature World Heritage Site which also called “Halong Bay on mountain”. We will have a stop for refreshment in Thai Nguyen. Quickly visit to Thai Nguyen Museum of ethnology to more understand about different ethnic minorities in northern Vietnam. Continue to Bac Kan for lunch. After lunch, we continue to Ba Be. Upon arrival in NP, we take a short boat ride to Pac Ngoi Village – a traditional village of Tay people. Tonight we will have dinner and overnight in local house.

Day 2: Hanoi Adventure Homestay Tour to Ba Be lake, Bac Kan via Thai Nguyen: Pac Ngoi Village Trekking and Homestay Tours to An Ma Island – Puong Cave – Dau Dang Waterfall – Pac Ngoi Village
Breakfast at the homestay. We will have a short motorcycle ride to starting point where we begin a short walk through jungle. At some rest place we can have great view of Ba Be Lake. After 1hr trekking we descend to the lake shore and cross a bridge to An Ma Island. The name of the island comes from its shape; it looks like a horse wading across the lake. Standing on An Ma Island and taking a far look back to Pe Lam Island, the sunshine sparkling on the surface of water.
Visit to the temple on the island before we start the kayaking time. Leave the island we paddle to Phuong Cave, a huge natural tunnel through mountain. Continue to Dau Dang Waterfall, the 100m, three-level waterfall makes the scenery even more magnificent, where we will have a picnic lunch in a beautiful natural setting of the waterfall. After lunch we paddle back to Ba Be Lake. If weather permits we can swim in the emeraude cool water of the lake. Paddle back to Pac Ngoi village for another night at the homestay.

Breakfast at the homestay. We take a short boat ride from Pac Ngoi Village to NP Dock where we get on our van for the ride back to Hanoi. Stop on the way for lunch. Back to Hanoi in the late afternoon. Trip completes.
