LUANG PRABANG DAY TOUR TO KUANG SI WATERFALLS

The Kuang Si Falls sometimes spelled Kuang Xi or known as Tat Kuang Si Waterfalls, is a three tier waterfall about 29 kilometers south of Luang Prabang. These waterfalls are a favorite side trip for tourists in Luang Prabang. The falls begin in shallow pools atop a steep hillside. These lead to the main fall with a 60 meters cascade. The falls are accessed via a trail to a left of the falls. The water collects in numerous turquoise blue pools as it flows downstream. The many cascades that result are typical of travertine waterfalls.

Heading out of the town, we travel south to Ban Xom, a lowland Lao hill tribe village which is well known for its cotton production. After a short walk around this village, we make our way up to the source of Kuang Si Waterfalls to visit  Ban Nam Ok Hou, home to the Khmu hill tribe people. They are very poor but have rich and interesting culture. The remainder of the day is free at the beautiful Khouang Si Waterfalls. The water tumbling over multi-tiered limestone formations into the cool and clear pool makes it an ideal place for anyone seeking an enjoyable escape when the heat becomes unbearable. The trip ends after arrival in Luang Prabang.
