Itinerary :
Day 1: Luangprabang elephant ride-Biking-Trekking combination Tour: Biking + Elephants + Trekking
After your pick up service from your hotel, you may choose a fitting bike and start cycling out of town. We take a side road and come through small villages along the way. You will see Ban Panom, the cotton and silk hand-weaving village and the grave of Henri Mouhot, the French explorer who popularized Angkor Wat. Here at the Nam Khan River, we are permitted to take a dip in the cool running water of this local tributary. Here we find the slow pace of Lao rural life in the countryside.
After a 1.5 km steep climb, we arrive at the Nam Khan valley, which some people also call the hidden valley of Luang Prabang, a dream set of mountains, rivers, and small villages. Lunch break on mountain view terrace or along the way (depending on bike route). In your lunch break, you can enjoy the wonderful and breathtaking view of a 1,600m high towering mountain range.
We cross the river by local boat to start our elephant experience and go out for a scenic ride along the Nam Khan, small forest or even to the Tad Sae waterfall cascades from July to January. Here you can enjoy the clear spring water which invites you for a refreshing bath. You go back to the camp by motorboat. A short and easy trek will bring you into the ‘Fair Trek Project’ area where communities directly profit from your visit. You get to know the culture and traditions of the Khamu people who live here for just about sixty years. Welcome to your hosts family!
Day 2: Luang Prabang elephant ride-Trekking-Kayaking trip on the Nam Khan river.
At the second day, you start your day with breakfast in your hosts’ house. After that, you continue on a short hike back to the Elephant Lodge. From here you start the soft kayaking tour on the Nam Khan river. You paddle your kayak about 4 hrs on the Nam Khan, passing only a few small rapids here and there. After arrival in Luang Prabang, a car picks you up to send you to your hotel.
End of Service!
NOTE:
we are working with animals and in nature, time changes may appear at any time. (Bring shoes that can get wet, sun protection, pocket money for tips, swimsuit, towel and long trousers!”)
The waterfall is dry during February-August. Elephant rides will take a different route through river and village. Overnight stay in the village and jungle camp means very basic standards.
