DAY 1: Best Selling Indochina Holiday to Laos Vietnam Cambodia: ARRIVAL – LUANG PRABANG SIGHTSEEING TOURS (-/-/-)

On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Luang Prabang – the ancient first capital of Lane Xang kingdom, the center of religious life in Laos and today the World Heritage City. After a short rest, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham and Wat Mai.

We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the hilltribe and local people surrounding Luang Prabang.

DAY 2: Best Selling Indochina Holiday to Laos Vietnam Cambodia: LUANG PRABANG SIGHTSEEING TOURS TO PAK OU CAVE (B/L/-)

After breakfast, we depart hotel to the boat landing, and take an excursion (a few hours) by boat, upstream on the Mekong to visit Pak Ou cave in the side of a lime stone cliff and opposite of the mouth of the Mekong and Ou rivers. The sanctuaries at Pak Ou consist of two large caves, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images, which range from mere centimeter to two meters in height.

En route, Lao typical villages are barely visible behind a screen of foliage. Slender canoes bobbing by the shore, bamboo poles and floats mark the location of nets and fish traps. Our first stop will be at Ban Muangkeo, a well-known village for Lao traditional rice whisky, namely Laoh-Khao to be distilled. We are welcome to taste it and also take away. Lunch is at a riverside restaurant.

We arrive back at Luang Prabang in late afternoon, and continue by car to outskirt of town to visit Ban Xangkhong, a well-known village for its wood paper making and also Lao silk weavings with natural dyes.Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Early rise to take the fantastic opportunity to watch or participate in the unique daily morning ritual, where hundreds of saffron-clad monks walk in procession collecting offerings of sticky rice from devout residents along the roadsides.

Back to the hotel where you’ll have breakfast and enjoy the easy time until transfer to the airport for the afternoon flight to Hanoi, the Vietnam’s bustling colonial capital. Upon arrival, you will be met and driven to the hotel for check in. Free evening allows your independent exploration about Hanoi night’s life.

Today we’ll be on a full day tour to discover the most outstanding attractions of Hanoi. First we pay a visit to the complex of memorials to Ho Chi Minh to know his amazing life. Continue to the Single Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature to gain understanding of the two driving forces in Vietnam culture. Afternoon we visit the Museum of Ethnology which exhibits a large collection of artifacts about the cultures of the 54 ethnic groups in the country.

Next we enjoy a rickshaw ride through the lively Old Quarter, a series of 36 ancient streets where peddlers still trade the way they have done for centuries. The rickshaw tour ends up at an old house on Ma May Street, an example of dwellings in the 19 century. Later we walk through the busy traffic to the water puppet theatre and enjoy a performance of the famed traditional art form created by village farmers around the Red River Delta region.

Following breakfast, we leave Hanoi for Halong Bay where we arrive around noon. We’ll board a beautiful traditional junk and spend a full day and night cruising the bay’s 3000 magnificent limestone islets. In the evening when the boat is anchored in the middle of the stunning lagoon, we enjoy a wonderful seafood meal and later there is opportunity for an evening swim from the side of the boat. Kayaks are also available if specified at time of booking. Spend the night on the comfortable and charming junk.

DAY 6: Best Selling Indochina Holiday to Laos Vietnam Cambodia: HA LONG CRUISING TOURS – FLIGHT TO HUE (B/L/-)

Wake up early in the morning to enjoy aquamarine water of the bay at its best. After breakfast and perhaps early swim, the junk continue to cruise quietly through spectacular limestone formations of Halong Bay. Enjoy more isolated and spectacular islands of the bay. Next, visit the historical Royal Citadel where we’ll admire the amazing architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty and many stories about the emperors. Khai Dinh tomb – a blend of Western and Eastern architecture- is another major part of our exploration today.

Afternoon we’ll depart Hue for Hoi An via Hai Van Pass, which offers spectacular views of mountains, the sea, idyllic beaches and villages. After 4-hour the scenic drive, we will arrive in the peaceful riverside town of Hoi An, which was originally one of major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century and is now an UNESCO World Heritage city.

This morning we visit Hoian town, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site because of its historic role in international trade, unusually well-preserved ancient streets and homes. Set out to explore the quaint cobblestone streets of the town with more than two-century-old Chinese houses. Sites include the Japanese Bridge, a Sino-Vietnamese merchant house, a Chinese Temple, Hoian Central Market, and the Culture Museum.

After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Da Nang airport to catch an hour flight to Saigon. On arrival, we’ll be met and transferred to the city center where you’ll always find a restaurant for your own lunch followed by the famed Highland coffee and an orientation walk to get acquainted with the largest and most vibrant city of Vietnam.

Our afternoon tour includes the Unification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the colonial Post Office, Opera House, Ben Thanh Market, and more.

This morning we head out for Tay Ninh to witness the noon services of adherents to Caodai Sect in a beautiful edifice called Holy Temple. Next, we pay a visit to Cu Chi, an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the Vietnam War. Known as the “Iron Triangle” during the war of the 60’s, the story of Cu Chi is one of struggle, determination against all odds, and eventual victory.

Now the tunnels are a major site of interest for tourists and historians, and those interested in Vietnam’s military history. It is advisable to wear clothes which you won’t mind getting dirty if you intend to be adventurous and go underground yourself! At the end of the day we return to Saigon for resting.

DAY 11: Best Selling Indochina Holiday to Laos Vietnam Cambodia: SAIGON SIGHTSEEING TOURS TO MY THO – MEKONG DELTA PACKAGE TOURS – SAIGON (B/L/-)

This morning we journey to Mekong Delta, a world that lives and works on the waters. Arriving in My Tho, a prosperous town just 80 km from Saigon, we take a boat to an insular village to visit family workshops producing handicrafts and candy from coconut. Tasting seasonal tropical fruits in an exuberant orchard, we ride a horse cart to a typical Delta house and enjoy folk music by amateurs.

Proceed by local sampan through the small canals and side arms of the river to further experience river life. For lunch we’ll sample regional specialties such as Elephant Ear Fish, Rice Ball, etc…  After lunch we return to Saigon. En route, we’ll visit the ornate pagoda of Thien Hau in Cho Lon, Saigon’s Chinatown.

Breakfast at your hotel followed by a morning flight to Siem Reap, the provincial capital and gateway to the ancient Angkor temples. Recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Angkor Archaeological Park encompasses dozens of temple ruins including Bayon and the legendary Angkor Wat. Upon arrival, you will be met by our local guide and driven to the hotel to check in.

This afternoon, transfer to the South Gate of Angkor Thom where you will be strongly impressed with its magic old doors and artifacts. Embark on a traditional Khmer boat which is propelled with a wooden paddle by an experienced oarsman. Glide gently along the Southern Angkor Thom’s moat while admiring the sunset over Angkor Archaeological Park.

Once you reach the southwest corner of the Ancient City, disembark near one of the four temples called Prasat Chrung and hike with your guide to the ruined building, constructed in the late 12th century. Walk under the shade of trees on a 2-mile (3-km) walkway to the top of the gate, where the best sunset viewpoint is. During your visit, learn about the four small sandstone temples, which were dedicated to a bodhisattva and designed in the style of Prasat Bayon, the magnificent temple at the center of Angkor Thom.

Free evening allows a walk around the Pub Streets or find a luck in the night market.

Rise up early to pick up the most beautiful, haunting and spiritual moment to visit magnificent Angkor Wat at dawn. Angkor Wat, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was constructed by Suryavarman II who reigned Cambodia from 1113 to 1152 and built the five towers in the 12th century and dedicated them to the Hindu God Vishnu. The plan of the pyramidal conception of the temple combined with spaces, alleys and ditches is an ancient masterpiece of architectural design and construction.

Our journey continues with a visit to Ta Prohm Temple, which is a wonderful combination of human genius and natural beauty with its giant trees that have grown there for centuries.
