Itinerary :

Myanmar Bago Division is the south of the big central plains. Magway Division and Mandalay Division are to Myanmar Bago north, Kayin State, Mon State and gulf of Mottama are to the east, Myanmar Yangon division is to Myanmar Bago Division’s south and Ayeyawaddy, Rakhine State are it’s west. The southern part of Myanmar Bago has tropical monsoon climate and northern part has a savannah climate.

Myanmar Bago Division has moderate temperature whole year round. The average annual rainfall of Myanmar Bago is 132.36 inches. Pyay and other town have less rain. Evergreen forests grow at the end of the eastern hilly Myanmar Bago region and the southern end of the Myanmar Bago Mountain Range.

The cultivation of summer paddy is being extended in addition to the cultivation of monsoon paddy in Myanmar Bago. Other major crops and plants are sugarcane, maize, groundnut, sesamum, sunflower, beans and pulses, cotton, jute, rubber, Myanmar tobacco, tapioca, banana, dhani (Nipa palm) and toddy in Myanmar Bago. Pick-up at hotel in Yangon and drive to Bago, formerly called Pegu, was founded in the year 825 by two Mon princes. The town, a former ancient port and capital, is situated about 84 km (approximately 2 hours driving time) from Yangon. The journey from Yangon to Bago leads through a picturesque rural landscape of paddy fields and small villages.

The highlights include Kyakhatwine Monastery, over thousand of monk studying the Buddha’s literature and the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, which is over a thousand years old. Repaired after an earthquake in the 1930’s, the pagoda has an impressive spire, one that is even taller than that of Yangon’s Shwedagon Pagoda. Also visit to Hinthargone Pagoda, where you can see the Nat Shrine.

In the afternoon, visit the enormous (55 meters long and 15 meters high) reclining Shwethalyung Buddha image, one of the country’s most revered objects, at the nearby local market, agricultural produce grown locally is on sale. Visit also Mahazedi Pagoda with its impressive bell-shaped stupa. Just outside Bago, visit Kyaikpun Pagoda with four 30-meter high Buddha figures seated back to back.

On the way back to the capital, visit Htaukkyan War Cemetery, situated between Bago and Yangon. It houses the graves of more than 27,000 allied soldiers. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission administers this beautifully landscaped cemetery. This is a tour that gives insight into the history and culture of this region. Return to Yangon and transfer to your hotel.
