Lang Bian Mountains are an ideal place for mountain climbing, paragliding, trekking or studying flora and rare bird species. At the foot of the mountains is Lat Village, where the Co Ho Minority lives.
On clear days of sunshine, tourists can see the two summits of Langbian standing bulkily and rising high in the sky. Romatic people often describe them as ‘the breasts full of vitality of a beautiful nude woman looking at the spacious blue sky.
Regarding the name Langbian, it is said that ‘in the very old time, in La Ngu Thuong Village (?a L?t now), a young man named Lang, the tribal chief of Lat clan loved a girl named Bian, the daughter of Chil’s tribal chief. Being in different clans, they could not marry. At the end, Bian and Lang killed themselves in order to stay loyal and to object too strict practice. After their deaths. K’Zenh, Bian’s father, regretted and took the duty tounite the clans of Lat, Chil, Sre’… into K’Ho people. Since then young people of different clans have been able to love and get married to each other easily. To mark the memorial Unification Day, the clans in La Ngu Thuong chose these two highest mountains to give the name of Langbian.
’ Thus the name BàMountain came out later then Viet People settled here bringing their own beliefs to mix with and enrich native spiritual lifestyles. In 1963, at the time of the movement for freedom of religion against Ngô ?ình Nhi?m’s regime, rumors of Bodhisattva’s apparition in Langbian mountain attracted thousands of people to come and pray and ask for miraculous medicine-water. Gradually, the name BàMountain, being worshipfully used for a long time, became familiar in the belief of some fellow countrymen.
On Langbian, tourists have the pleasure of conquering the height. It is really an ideal choice for sports activities such as climbing, parachuting, jogging or researching rare and valuable plants and birds in the area. And standing on the top, they can see ?a L?t’s high buildings, villas, belfry towers, etc… nestling in the pine forest, the miraculous Golden stream lake wandering about through smooth one carpet, and fanciful and dreaming Ninh Chu sea in Phan Rang. It will be interesting when tourists ever come across Chil ‘bons’, Lat ‘bons’ quietly residing beside streams, and when going down the mountain they can get the jungle’s gifts like orchids, ornament plants as souvenirs of a mountain climb.
